Growing together.This Senior Data Analyst role will pay a critical function within the Surest Ontology Team to support the design, performance, and continuous improvement of Surest's Ontology and Search experience. Surest Ontology is the foundational framework and source of truth that Surest uses to organize, define, price, display, and adjudicate healthcare services across the member experience. This role is responsible for translating complex healthcare and benefit design data to improve search relevance, ontology accuracy, and downstream operational outcomes. This individual will partner closely with Product, Technology, Operations, and Benefit Design to ensure that Ontology structures and Search logic align with business intent and consumer needs.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Analyze Ontology structures to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for optimizationProvide analytical support for Ontology changes, including upstream inputs and downstream dependenciesImplementation of Search data enhancementsDevelop repeatable analyses to validate data integrity and configuration accuracyAnalyze search behavior, query patterns, and user interaction data to identify opportunities to improve search relevance and accuracyTranslate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for business and technical stakeholdersEstablish and maintain data quality checks for Ontology and search dataSupport documentation and standardization of analytical methodologiesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare, insurance or digital product environments5+ years of experience with data modeling concepts5+ years of experience using SQL and relational databases5+ years of experience with Python or R for data analysis3+ years of demonstrated experience working with healthcare administrative data (e.g. claims, encounter, clinical, provider etc.)Demonstrated working knowledge of clinical data domains, code sets and ontologies (e.g. ICD, SNOMED, RxNorm)Willing and able to travel 10% +/- depending on business needPreferred Qualifications:1+ year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure) and data platforms such as Databricks and SnowflakeExperience working with search platforms, search analytics, or relevance tuningExperience presenting research methods and findings to stakeholdersFamiliarity with taxonomyProven exceptional analytical and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a highly dynamic environmentProven high attention to detailProven innate curiosity to learn morePay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
