Title: School Psychologist Assignment: Full-time; school-year Location: District-wide responsibilities Occupational Group: NTEA Supervisor: Director of Special Education Position The school psychologist is an advocate for students through identification of student strengths, weaknesses, and psychological difficulties. The psychologist must have an understanding of typical adolescent development as well as the varying environmental, social and personal factors that can interfere with that development. The psychologist will apply the understanding of the student’s profile to program planning and consult with staff regarding student needs. An understanding of functional assessments, behavior plans, and classroom-based interventions preferred. Qualifications Master’s degree. Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License with School Psychologist endorsement. Experience in a high school setting preferred. CPI certified or willingness to become certified also preferred. Responsibilities As a member of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) team, consults and collaborates with parents, educators and other professionals to design and implement interventions at all tiers to address students’ academic, behavioral, and/or social concerns. Support special education teachers in developing IEPs, implementation, and gathering goal data. Guide MTSS teams and IEP teams in knowing when to conduct an FBA and develop a BIP. Serve as liaison with families, educational professionals, and private providers to improve services and outcomes for students. Participate in Case Study Evaluations, administering and interpreting evaluation results, relating results to interventions and strategies to promote student progress. Present in-service and training opportunities to educational personnel, parents, and community members. Participate in continuing professional development to improve and enhance professional knowledge and skills. Maintain up-to-date knowledge about and follows legal requirements and ethical codes of the profession. Provide expertise in the areas of research methodology and design, program development and program evaluation. Create evaluation approaches that measure student and program outcomes.
