Material Handler/Optical

Introduction to the job ASML is looking for a Senior Optical Material Handler (OMH) to support the Logistics needs of the Optical Fabrication team at the Wilton Factory. The OFL Material Handler will arrange flawless material flow, both administrative and physical, across the manufacturing areas. Role and responsibilities This position serves as a key operational leader, ensuring smooth material flow, process efficiency, and team support. The Grade 5 role acts as the primary escalation point for Grade 4 employees and is responsible for: Supporting Receiving, Put Away, Picking and Inventory Management activities as needed. Ensuring accurate material movements in SAP and physical handling. Maintaining compliance with safety standards and proper use of PPE. Performing additional assigned duties. Core responsibilities Act as the escalation point for Grade 4 employees and determine when to involve the Team Lead. Lead and manage special projects to support departmental and organizational goals. Monitor and analyze KPIs to meet performance targets and identify improvement opportunities. Serve as a key SAP user, providing troubleshooting support and training team members. Run Daily Performance Management (DPM) meetings to track progress. Communicate professionally, resolve customer and employee complaints promptly. Collaborate across shifts to maintain material flow and production goals. Operational Control Assess issues and decide on escalation to the Team Lead. Drive DPM discussions and manage deviations. Provide SAP training and upskilling. Oversee operations in the Team Lead’s absence. Collaborate cross‑shift to meet production output targets. Receiving, Put Away & Inventory Management Execute Goods Receipt, Put Away, labeling, scanning, and inventory booking. Maintain owned inventory and conduct accurate weekly cycle counts. Support QC, planners, and optical fabrication teams with material requests and replenishment. Ensure all material movements are accurate and timely. Picking & Material Delivery Pick and stage materials for production demand and factory makes. Ensure delivery schedules are met; escalating deviations in quantity, part number or timing. Allocate parts in transit, resolve discrepancies, and support urgent requests. Material Return Flow Process returns to Glass Stores, Coating Glass Stores, and other inventory locations following R&R procedures. Troubleshooting Resolve picking errors, inventory mismatches, incorrect deliveries, and SAP transaction issues with Warehouse Operations and Production Planners. Housekeeping & Safety Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with ASML safety standards. Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with cleanroom requirements. Support 5S, ISO standards, and environmental compliance. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or material handling. Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership capability strongly preferred. Strong SAP/ERP experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred. Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and decision‑making skills. Ability to assess issues, determine escalation paths, and support operational flow. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across shifts. High attention to detail and accuracy in SAP transactions. Strong customer focus and commitment to quality and efficiency. Ability to follow procedures, interpret data, and adapt to changing workloads. Office & Factory Requirements Work includes standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 35 lbs, and use of material‑handling equipment. Must be able to work in cleanroom environments wearing full PPE. May involve exposure to overhead cranes, pallet movers, lasers, chemicals, and moderate noise levels. Must be willing to work 2nd shift or compressed 12‑hour shifts, including day/night rotations. Travel may be required based on business needs.
