Full Time Respiratory Therapist Shift: Nights Job Summary As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You’ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. You’ll utilize reasoning ability and critical thinking to meet the individual needs of your patients, communicating effectively with physicians, managers, and families. With a focus on quality improvement and customer service initiatives, you will have the support of a collaborative team that sets you up to deliver your best care, promote facility standards, and make a lasting impact on patient health every day. What You Will Do In This Role You will assess respiratory status and deliver evidence-based therapy per the plan of care across routine, intensive, and emergency settings. You will administer prescribed doses of medicinal gases and aerosol medications while utilizing various types of therapeutic gas equipment. You will manage invasive and noninvasive ventilation, perform arterial blood gas draws, and interpret results to safely guide patient care. You will respond quickly to emergency team calls and provide immediate assistance with artificial airway placement and stabilization. You will monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions, ensuring accurate documentation, charging, and electronic record keeping. You will educate patients and family members to support their care plan and provide valuable clinical insight to the broader healthcare team. You will provide orientation and mentoring to new staff members to help foster a supportive and collaborative team environment. You will set up, operate, clean, and store respiratory therapy equipment while strictly following all infection-prevention and safety standards. You will assist leadership in meeting departmental budget goals by actively assessing daily staffing needs and monitoring supply costs. Qualifications You Will Need You must be a graduate of a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the AMA and the NBRC. You must hold a current Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist licensure by the Tennessee Board for Respiratory Care. You must possess a current Basic Life Support certification at the time of hire. You must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications at hire or within six months of employment. You should have strong interpersonal skills to successfully interact and build relationships with patients, guests, physicians, and colleagues. You need strong computer skills and demonstrated experience performing essential clinical respiratory care functions.
