This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Technician who enjoys fast-paced medicine, advanced procedures, and providing exceptional patient care in a specialty animal hospital.Compensation$26.00 - $36.00/hour based on experience$2.00/hour overnight shift differential$1.00/hour weekend shift differential$1,500 Sign-On Bonus for RVTsUp to $3,000 Sign-On Bonus for RVTs with advanced anesthesia experience (skills assessment required)Up to $3000 relocation assistance available to applicable qualified RVTsFull-Time BenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision insurancePaid Time Off available upon hire401(k) with employer matchVeterinary Social Worker onsiteEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee pet care discountsDiscounted pet insuranceUniform allowanceReferral bonus programVeterinary Nurse Champion AwardsVetBloom Learning & Development Platform with RACE-approved Continuing EducationRECOVER CPR certification opportunitiesFear Free certification opportunitiesEthos Peer-to-Peer Mentorship NetworksSupport for aspiring Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) candidatesScheduleFull-Time12-hour shiftsThursday-Saturday | 6:00 PM-6:00 AMWeekend and holiday availability required as part of the Emergency team scheduleResponsibilitiesProvide exceptional nursing care for emergency and critical patients throughout their hospitalization.Triage incoming emergency patients and assist veterinarians with rapid patient assessment.Perform advanced Veterinary Technician skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, medication administration, and patient monitoring.Assist with anesthesia, emergency procedures, diagnostics, and advanced treatments.Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare diagnostic samples.Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes promptly to the medical team.Maintain complete and accurate medical records using EzyVet.Educate and communicate with clients regarding diagnostics, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.Collaborate closely with Emergency, Surgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation teams to deliver exceptional patient care.Support a collaborative, compassionate, and efficient Emergency department environment.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experienceEmergency, Critical Care, or Specialty Veterinary experience preferredRVT, CVT, or LVT strongly preferredStrong technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia support, and patient monitoringAbility to prioritize multiple patients in a fast-paced Emergency environmentExcellent communication and client service skillsPassion for Emergency and Specialty veterinary medicineFluent English speaking and reading skills requiredAbout the HospitalEastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is a 24/7 emergency and specialty referral hospital serving Wilmington and the surrounding coastal communities.
