Description:
The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases without surgery.
This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.
Responsibilities include assisting Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management.
Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or invasive procedures according to established scope of practice guidelines.
Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient care.
Assists in preparing patients for procedures and provides comfort.
Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures.
Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
Collaborates with team members to provide exceptional patient care.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings, and prepares the study for reporting by the physician.
Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
Assists with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement tasks as requested.
Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours as assigned.
May support academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching students in the radiologic program.
May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
Assists with onboarding of new team members.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures.
Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices, and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze, and annotate study data or procedure documentation.
Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient populations served.
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments.
Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.
Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
Ability to be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs.
Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
