Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Future Opportunity EGA Associates is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for future opportunities supporting psychiatric and behavioral health programs. The Psychiatric RN will provide professional nursing services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness and behavioral health disorders while promoting patient safety, recovery, and therapeutic outcomes. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, crisis intervention, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams.

This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, behavioral health, mental health, substance abuse treatment, or inpatient psychiatric settings.

Schedule: Various shifts available (Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays as required)

Work Location: On-Site, Brentwood Psychiatric Center, Brentwood, NY

Range $32.76-$45 HR

Essential Functions

• Provide direct nursing care to individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health diagnoses.

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.

• Administer medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effectiveness and adverse reactions.

• Document nursing interventions, patient progress, and treatment outcomes accurately and timely.

• Monitor patients for changes in mental status, risk of self-harm, or behavioral concerns.

• Participate in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and intervention activities as necessary.

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other healthcare professionals.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.

• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and continuity of care planning.

• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and community resources.

• Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.

• Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality requirements.

• Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement activities.

• Respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and behavioral incidents.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.

• Minimum of four (4) years of nursing experience.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, substance abuse, correctional, or inpatient mental health settings preferred.

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

• Proficiency with electronic medical records and documentation systems.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in patient care activities throughout the workday.
