In addition, the Harmony Healthcare Long Island has 4 school-based health centers, WIC offices (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) in 3 locations, and a Health Home Care Coordination program. We treat patients regardless of income, residency or immigration status.The Harmony Healthcare Long Island offers a stable employment opportunity with a growing company, and competitive base compensation along with health and dental insurance, paid time off, 401-K with company match, paid holidays, employee discounts and much more.The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of this position.Responsibilities:Assists with the preparation of patients prior to seeing practitionersAssists the practitioners with patient care in the conduct of clinical examinations and materials preparation; i.e. dressing changes, Pap Smear, etc.Acts as a translator for patients as neededResponsible for taking vital signs, administering tuberculin tests, and performing procedures for specimen collection, routine eye screening, hearing tests, hematocrit, urinalysis, and urine culturePerforms EKG and simple laboratory proceduresDistributes lab reports to practitioners for reviewProvides patient counseling regarding procedures (Ex. lab tests)Assist in the maintenance of inventories and stocking of supplies in examination rooms, nursing and lab areasMaintains logs of required data as neededActs as the patient's advocate and liaison for the preservation of patient's rightsParticipates in off-site screening projects as neededParticipates in departmental QA and other patient-related committees as neededParticipates in outreach and community screenings as neededParticipates in case management and patient surveys in maintaining quality assuranceOther related duties as assignedQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMedical Assistant Certification requiredBasic CPR (BCLS) CertificationTwo years of experience working in the health care fieldCapacity for covering Medical Assistants at all sites as neededBilingual in English and Spanish/Creole requiredThis is Monday through Friday.
