Senior Sourcing Manager

Job Description

The Senior Sourcing Manager will lead strategic sourcing activities for assigned direct and indirect materials, components, finished goods, and services in support of Edelbrock Group's manufacturing and business objectives. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, negotiating commercial agreements, strengthening the supplier base, improving cost and delivery performance, and ensuring reliable supply across a complex, high-SKU manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

\n

\n

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

\n

\n
• Develop and execute sourcing and category strategies for assigned materials, components, finished goods, and services based on business requirements, market conditions, supplier capability, cost, quality, delivery, and risk.
\n
• Lead competitive sourcing events, requests for quotation/proposal, bid analysis, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations with domestic and global suppliers.
\n
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities, capacity commitments, tooling arrangements, freight terms, warranties, and other contractual provisions to achieve the best total value.
\n
• Identify, qualify, and develop new supply sources to increase capacity, improve competitiveness, reduce risk, and support new and existing product requirements.
\n
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant commodity markets, supplier economics, industry trends, and cost drivers and translate that information into sourcing recommendations.
\n
• Establish sourcing roadmaps and measurable savings, cost-avoidance, working-capital, and supplier-performance objectives aligned with the annual operating plan.

Supplier Development & Performance

\n

\n
• Develop and manage supplier relationships with clear expectations for quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, capacity, and continuous improvement.
\n
• Establish and monitor supplier performance KPIs and scorecards and lead regular business reviews with critical or strategic suppliers.
\n
• Partner with Quality, Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Planning to address supplier performance issues, recurring disruptions, capacity constraints, and corrective actions.
\n
• Lead supplier improvement and development activities to strengthen delivery performance, quality, productivity, lead time, and overall capability.
\n
• Ensure suppliers comply with negotiated commercial terms and support resolution of contractual, pricing, delivery, and performance issues.
\n
• Build productive, long-term supplier relationships while maintaining appropriate commercial tension and accountability.
\n

Cost, Commercial & Value Management

\n

\n
• Own sourcing-related cost reduction and purchase price improvement initiatives for assigned spend and contribute to Operating Plan savings targets.
\n
• Analyze quotations, cost breakdowns, commodity movements, total landed cost, make/buy considerations, supplier economics, and alternative sourcing scenarios.
\n
• Partner with Finance and Operations to validate savings, understand cost impacts, and support decisions that improve profitability and cash flow.
\n
• Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, specification optimization, alternate materials, value engineering, localization, resourcing, and other total-cost improvements.
\n
• Support negotiations and sourcing strategies for new product introductions, engineering changes, product transfers, and other business transitions.
\n

\n

Supply Continuity & Risk Management

\n

\n
• Assess supplier capacity, lead times, financial and operational risk, geographic exposure, sole-source dependencies, and other factors that could disrupt supply.
\n
• Develop mitigation and contingency plans for high-risk suppliers and materials, including alternate suppliers, dual sourcing, capacity actions, and other continuity strategies.
\n
• Partner with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, and SIOP leadership to ensure sourcing actions support forecasted demand, inventory targets, production requirements, and customer service.
\n
• Escalate significant supplier risks early and provide fact-based options and recommendations to leadership.
\n
• Support efforts to reduce premium freight, expedites, shortages, excess inventory, and other costs associated with supplier or sourcing performance.
\n

\n

Cross-Functional Leadership, Systems & Process Improvement

\n

\n
• Serve as a senior sourcing partner to Engineering, Quality, Sales, Operations, Planning, Product Management, Finance, and commercial teams.
\n
• Provide sourcing input for new product development, supplier selection, cost targets, manufacturability, capacity, and launch readiness.
\n
• Maintain accurate sourcing, supplier, pricing, lead-time, and contractual information within ERP and related business systems.
\n
• Use ERP, business intelligence, and advanced Excel tools to analyze spend, supplier performance, sourcing opportunities, and business results.
\n
• Develop standard work, sourcing tools, dashboards, and processes that improve speed, transparency, governance, and decision quality.
\n
• Lead or support procurement and supply chain continuous-improvement initiatives and develop sourcing/procurement resources as assigned.
\n

Qualifications & Experience:

\n

\n
• Strong strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, and commercial skills with demonstrated success managing complex supplier relationships.
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to evaluate quotations, cost drivers, spend data, supplier performance, and sourcing scenarios.
\n
• Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, materials planning, supplier capacity, inventory, and the relationship between sourcing decisions and customer service, profitability, and cash flow.
\n
• Strong experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools; Oracle experience is preferred. Advanced proficiency in Excel is expected.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present sourcing recommendations and supplier issues to senior and executive-level audiences.
\n
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment, manage multiple priorities, and drive results through cross-functional teams.
\n

Minimum Requirements:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related discipline.
\n
• 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, commodity management, supply chain, or a related manufacturing discipline.
\n
• Demonstrated experience leading supplier negotiations, sourcing projects, supplier selection, and supplier performance management.
\n
• Experience sourcing from a domestic and/or global supply base in a manufacturing environment.
\n
• Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Sales, Planning, Finance, and other business stakeholders.
\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Automotive, automotive aftermarket, industrial manufacturing, consumer durables, or other complex high-SKU manufacturing experience.
\n
• Experience sourcing castings, machined components, raw materials, purchased finished goods, packaging, or other categories relevant to a manufacturing and distribution business.
\n
• Experience with supplier development, cost modeling, value analysis/value engineering, commodity management, and supply-risk mitigation.
\n
• Professional certification such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, CPIM, or equivalent supply chain/procurement certification.
\n
• Prior experience leading or mentoring sourcing, purchasing, or procurement team members.
\n
