Gross Weekly Pay: $2,008.64 A labor and delivery (L&D) registered nursecares for mothers and newborns before, during, and after childbirth. They monitor vital signs, track contractions, administer medications, assist doctors or midwives during delivery, and manage emergency medical situations in fast-paced hospital or clinic units.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Monitoring: Track maternal vital signs, cervical dilation, and electronic fetal heart rate patterns.
- Medication & Treatment: Administer IV fluids, labor-inducing drugs, pain relief, and epidurals.
- Delivery Assistance: Support physicians and midwives during vaginal births or act as a circulating/scrub nurse during C-sections.
- Newborn Care: Perform initial infant evaluations, including APGAR score calculations.
- Education & Support: Offer emotional reassurance to families and teach new parents about postpartum recovery and infant care.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
- Skills: High crisis-management aptitude, clear communication, and physical stamina for 12-hour shifts.
