Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nursing Job - Kodiak, Alaska

Join a collaborative Labor & Delivery team as a traveling Registered Nurse (RN) in Kodiak, Alaska. Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Kodiak, Alaska
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,800-$2,950
• Assignment: 13-week Labor & Delivery travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Shift Options: Days, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., or nights, 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.
• Healthcare Setting: Acute care and critical access hospital environment
• Unit: Labor & Delivery with four rooms and support for neonates, infants, and adults
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Call: Not required
• Charting: Epic experience preferred
• Floating: May be required within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice to support operational needs
• Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours every two weeks, with the possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period
• Housing: Assignment housing may be available; arrangements and eligibility are subject to assignment guidelines

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Alaska; compact license must be active and in hand at submission when applicable
• At least 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications
• Recent experience caring for laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, and applicable holidays
• Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
• Ability to provide requested time-off and scheduling preferences during the submission process
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills in a changing maternal-child healthcare environment

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, high-risk deliveries, forceps and vacuum extractions, and newborn stabilization
• Perform maternal and newborn assessments, including fetal monitoring, APGAR scoring, fundus and lochia assessment, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, terbutaline, prostaglandins, insulin infusions, and epidural anesthesia
• Manage IV therapy, infusion pumps, blood and blood products, Foley catheters, pain management, and postpartum hemorrhage interventions
• Support newborn care, thermoregulation, glucose monitoring, phototherapy, metabolic screening, cord care, identification procedures, and neonatal abstinence monitoring
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support, discharge education, car seat education, and teaching related to newborn and circumcision care
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Float within scope of practice when needed and contribute to a safe, respectful, patient-centered care environment
