Packaging Designer

About the Role (Keeping it clean where it counts!) We're hiring a Senior Packaging Designer who owns the full process from dieline to shelf. Someone who can take creative direction and execute it through production, understanding substrate, print finishes, and supplier constraints well enough to carry the design intent all the way through manufacturing. On net-new projects, that means working closely with Creative to apply their vision structurally, not just receiving a finished file. On existing lines, it means owning the production relationship that gets it printed exactly right. This is a new role, designed to give packaging a dedicated owner rather than splitting the work across a few people's plates. You bring packaging-specific production experience and require little ramp-up time. You understand substrate, printing finishes, and how a design has to flex once it hits manufacturing --- and you know how to build a supplier relationship that actually gets results, not just a status update. What you'll do Getting down and dirty! Packaging Design & Die-Line Application On net-new projects, design packaging artwork in close collaboration with Creative --- building from their direction, not just receiving a finished file to lay onto a die line Take the creative's artwork and apply it structurally to die lines --- substrate, printing finishes, foil, layering, whatever the format calls for Make sure the package works on shelf, vertical or horizontal --- copy flow, placement, and how it reads to a consumer picking it up Partner with Creative throughout the process --- from early direction on net-new work to final sign-off --- so the design holds up once it's built out and adapted to manufacturing constraints Supplier & Production Partnership Build and own a direct working relationship with our co-manufacturer and our packaging suppliers on materials, finishes, and timelines Shepherd samples through production and sign-off, coordinating directly with suppliers on what's technically possible Bring materials and supplier expertise back into our process so decisions get made faster and with more confidence Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Own the artwork-to-production handoff end-to-end, executing on copy hierarchy and claims direction from Product Development and incorporating compliance requirements from Regulatory. Define and document the process for this role --- it's new, and you'll be writing the playbook, not inheriting one Partner closely with Product Development on active project timelines, flagging early wherever packaging needs runway What You Bring (How we hope you've already left your... mark!) 6--12 years of experience in packaging design, packaging engineering, or graphic design with real, hands-on packaging production experience Real design chops, not just production execution --- a portfolio that shows you can take creative direction and build original packaging artwork, not only populate an existing template Real experience applying artwork to die lines --- you're fluent in substrate materials, label application, and printing finishes Comfortable owning a direct relationship with co-manufacturers and suppliers on materials and timelines Strong enough design judgment to know when a manufacturing adjustment has drifted from the original creative intent --- and to fix it Confident building a new process and defending it; this role comes with real latitude, not a template to follow Bonus Points Industrial engineering background or a packaging-specific design program Experience at a CPG or consumer brand that also partners with a co-manufacturer on packaging Comfortable partnering with Regulatory and Quality on label compliance requirements Why DUDE?
