Title Med Surg RN Preceptor
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Location: 1315 Hospital Drive St. Johnsbury, Vermont 05819
Shift 12H Days (36 hour guaranteed) transition to nights last 4 weeks
Shift times: 6:45 A -7:15 P
On call- No
Floating NO
Scheduling: Weekend rotation: Every other weekend Preceptor will follow new grad schedule
No radius rule, if previous staff can return after 1 year.
RTO: Approve up to 5 days
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- Pediatric experience with the resource nurse but PALs not needed
- Vermont License, BLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred
Skills required:
- Medication management- Including acknowledging orders, proper administers (5 Rights)
- Communication- Utilizing SBAR to communicate with peers, providers, taking or giving handoff reports.
- Critical Thinking- Recognizing abnormal trends and the rational behind why interventions are being made.
- Nursing Skills- A refresh on basic nursing skills that are commonly seen on the Med/Surg unit.
