Cloud Solutions ArchitectAt Regions, the Cloud Solutions Architect oversees multiple dimensions of assigned applications and/or capabilities including but not limited to stability, life cycle management, version control, design and development, mapping of business requirements to capability oriented technical requirements, and ensuring technology solutions to business needs are developed in accordance with the cloud architectural roadmap, guidelines, and standards.Primary ResponsibilitiesManages end to end from conception, through delivery, into production of cloud solution architecturesPartners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutionsParticipates in the design and modeling of cloud architectures for delivery, development, and support of projectsCollaborates with other domain architects to provide a consensus based scalable and adaptable cloud architectural solutionCollaborates on roadmaps to ensure enough architectural runway to align information technology priorities with business partner requirements and strategiesPromotes the reuse of services, components, frameworks, and infrastructure as code to reduce costs and improve how information flowsSupports team members on the design and deployment of cloud strategies and solutionsLooks for opportunities to simplify code, existing or new architectures and vendor dependenciesBuilds and maintains technical trusted advisor relationships with influential technical decision makers within TechnologyMakes recommendations to improve application operational efficiency, enhance program usage and increase understanding of the programDesigns both the physical and logical components of solution architectures that will deliver a positive business outcomeWorks closely with Enterprise and Business Solutions Architecture to ensure compliance with Regions' architectural principles and patternsProvides feedback to Enterprise and Business Solutions Architecture with respect to potential deviations from or necessary modifications to existing architectural principles and patternsWorks closely with Cyber Security to understand network, application, and data security requirementsWorks with all stakeholders to understand non-functional requirements that may have a material impact on cloud solution architectureWorks with software delivery teams to ensure that the cloud solutions are observable and secure by designOversees technical analysis and design capabilitiesEnsures compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identifies opportunities for and supports process improvements; applies disciplined change management practicesThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field and five (5) years of enterprise, solutions and/or technical architecture related experienceOr a High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of enterprise, solutions and/or technical architecture related experienceExperience of N-tier architectures and complex design architecturesExperience with Agile methodsExperience with technical, application, and information architecture delivery techniques and methodologiesCertifications/LicensuresAmazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architect CertificationSkills and CompetenciesAbility to adapt to new technologies and learn quicklyAdvanced knowledge of cyber security design techniquesAdvanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure, platforms, and cloud native serverless architectures (AWS, Azure a plus)Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource ManagerAdvanced understanding of, and ability to use, design patterns to steer business requirements into technical strategiesAwareness and ability to document designs using internal and external notational standards (Business Process Model and Notation {BPMN}, Unified Modeling Language {UML})Knowledge of containers and container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift a plus)Knowledge of instrumentation, telemetry, and observability frameworks and platforms (OpenTelemetry, DynaTrace, Splunk a plus)Knowledge with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems like SalesforceUnderstanding the technology of the organization, e.g. Middleware,.NET, Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Oracle, etc.This Architect will own and drive the enterprise data streaming platform strategy, providing technical leadership across Kafka, Confluent, Kafka Connect, and emerging technologies such as Apache Flink. They will define the platform roadmap, ensure resiliency, security, governance, and compliance, and establish enterprise standards for event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Kafka/Confluent, cloud and enterprise architecture, disaster recovery, observability, and security within regulated environments, along with strong stakeholder management skills to align architecture, engineering, operations, and risk teams while accelerating platform adoption and maturity. Experience with Confluent certifications, Kafka Streams/ksqlDB, and modern data platform approaches such as data mesh or streaming-first architectures is highly desirable.Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications:Confluent Certified Administrator and/or Confluent Certified Developer certifications.Experience with Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, and advanced event-streaming technologies.Knowledge of data mesh architectures and streaming-first data platform strategies.Experience leading large-scale platform transformations, migrations, or ownership transitions.Prior partnership with Confluent or other strategic vendors to drive platform maturity and adoption.Financial services or banking industry experience supporting highly regulated environments.Demonstrated success enabling self-service adoption, developer onboarding, and enterprise-wide streaming platform evangelization.Regions will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position at this time. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role.
