Internship Opportunity at Anchor Hospital

Anchor Hospital offers unpaid internships in the Clinical department. Internships will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are determined by the requirements of the individual university/college program. Responsibilities include assisting in the provision of case management for each patient assigned to the caseload, completing required case management documentation within required timelines, and assisting in the research, performance, and documentation of the psychosocial assessment of all patients within specific time frames. Additionally, interns will assist in the documentation in the clinical record of patient behavior and interventions provided and their effectiveness on a daily basis. They will also facilitate group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy sessions and document appropriately in the interdisciplinary progress notes. Interns will attend Treatment Team meetings with other therapists and treatment planning meetings to assist with the ongoing development of the patient's Treatment Plan. They will also assist in the research, development, and presentation of in-service training to staff to aid in program development and to increase others' job knowledge. Furthermore, interns will assist in training milieu staff to conduct Skills Groups covering topics as Independent Living, Assertiveness Training, Social Skills, and Problem Solving. They will also co-lead Skills Groups. Interns will assist in the completion and charting of the Initial Master Treatment Plan for each patient in his/her caseload within required timeframes and admission. They will also assist in the implementation of the Preliminary Treatment Plan within required time frames of the patient's admission.

Qualifications include a school affiliation agreement with Anchor Hospital and a valid driver's license. Skills required include the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical requirements include extensive walking, standing, sitting, and the ability to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds. Interns must also be able to participate in the physical restraint and seclusion of patients and complete crisis intervention on an annual basis.
