Job Description

Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a full time Clubhouse Generalist (kitchen unit) to join the Journey House Clubhouse program. The Clubhouse Generalist/Case Manager is a bachelors-level mental health professional who provides targeted case management behavior management skills development and personal services in a supportive Clubhouse setting. This position will work side by side to engage members of the program in all aspects of Clubhouse operation. The staff will assist clients in effectively utilizing available community resources and may be provided in various settings. This position offers hope guidance and skills toward obtaining and maintaining independence in community living.

What is your role at Journey House

Journey House is looking for an individual to for in a fast-paced environment that is flexible adaptable and capable of having fun!

The belief that recovery is possible for people with mental illness must be a core social work value as you will work with the members to identify their strengths and challenges and as they work towards the goal of pursuing meaning and productive work personal and social life. The members are the foundation of Journey House. You should have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with people from various walks of life and diverse backgrounds. You need to be a strong team member (willing to provide coverage in all units as needed) self-starter creative thinker and can engage many individuals at one time.

What you will do on the job.

Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Clubhouse Management

• Planning coordinating and executing daily unit work with members.
• Working side by side with members to complete unit work and tasks.
• Applying and modeling the Clubhouse Standards in daily tasks.
• Kitchen Unit staff position including teaching members to plan organize and prepare daily meals at Clubhouse.
• Learn and become immersed in the Clubhouse Model of Psycho-social rehabilitation.
• Creatively encouraging and motivating members to participate in their recovery.
• Organizing executing and participating in some evening weekend and holiday activities.
• Actively participating in the fundraising efforts for Journey House.
• Completing frequent outreach of members who are not in attendance for each unit.
• Assisting to meet the community needs of members.

Documentation Requirements

• Developing Personal & Individualized Treatment Plans with members.
• Completing reviews of the treatment plans with members.
• Completing bi-weekly comments on progress notes with member in unit.
• Completing documentation in adherence to DBH standards.

Other Responsibilities

• Providing supportive life coaching to members.
• Providing on-site job coaching to members as needed to maintain successful Transitional Employment Placements (T.E.P.) Supported Employment and Competitive Employment in the community. Participate in Transitional Employment as placement manager.
• Participate in 2-week clubhouse training.
• Adhere to Clubhouse International Standards and Philosophy
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Program Director or Supervisor.

Schedule and Classification

This is a full-time non-exempt position and is normally assigned to weekdays. However DBH reserves the right to require overtime weekend work and/or assignment to evening or night shifts depending upon operational need to assist with member activities. Some in and out of state travel may be required. All DBH employees may be re-assigned to another program depending on Center needs.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is outlined below

• $22.00 per hour for candidates with a bachelors degree.
• $26.00 per hour for candidates licensed as a Social Service Worker (SSW) in the State of Utah.
  • 1% per year for each year of licensure between 0 and 10 years.
  • 1% per year for every three years of licensure 10 years and beyond.

  • Internal Candidates Only: No Degree TCM Certification

    • $19.00 per hour 1% per year of direct social work experience up to 10 years.

Candidates licensed as a Social Service Worker (SSW) Candidates who are not currently licensed but are actively pursuing SSW licensure or those that do not have a SSW license but are eligible for Targeted Case Management Certification may also be considered.

Davis Behavioral Health utilizes an electronic medical record which requires proficiency in computer-related skills.

Meeting monthly face-to-face service expectations and productivity standards is also required.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.

Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws including no use of medical marijuana.

Targeted Case Management Certification

Candidates who do not hold a professional license must complete certification as a Targeted Case Manager (TCM) within the first 30 days of employment.

Qualifications to become a certified Targeted Case Manage r through the State of Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health include:

• 400 hours of work volunteer and/or education experience in human services or a related field
• Required 40-hour case management practicum and examination provided by DBH during the TCM certification class.

Preference will also be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Spanish.

The successful candidate must also have a clean driving record to operate agency vehicles and/or transport clients when necessary. The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients that have severe mental illness are hard working can work both independently and successfully within a small outreach team.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Prefer Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation experience and/or willingness to work as Generalist Practitioner.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

The Case Manag er must possess strong verbal communication skills and demonstrate compassion courtesy and respect to all clients and their families. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish immediate rapport with clients.

• Demonstrate the ability to work with SED/SPMI populations substance use and with individuals and families .
• Demonstrates the skills necessary to motivate and engage individuals .
• Knowledge of the techniques and principles of child and family development and family systems
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care .
• Good organizational and practice management skills .
• Ability to work independently and effectively .
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and community/state agencies .
• Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including evenings .
• Must be able to exercise judgment work independently and effectively with a team under general directio n.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee must be able to drive and must have a valid drivers license for six years minimum with clean driving record to be covered by DBH insurance. The employee is required to stand walk reach carry stoop sitting reaching talk hearing and seeing. Common eye hand and finger dexterity required for many tasks. Mental application utilizes memory for details verbal instructions emotional stability and discriminating thinking. The employee must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally move or lift 25-50 pounds. The employee must be able to sit at computer workstations for up to 3 hours a day. The employee must be able to perform multiple job tasks. Periodic interaction with youth or adults in crisis requiring participation in de-escalation processes may occur causing stress or threat of physical injury.
