Clinical Nurse Coordinator Surgery

St. David's Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator Surgery to support our state-of-the-art neurological surgical services in Austin. In this role, you will serve as a clinical and operational leader within the operating room, coordinating the daily activities of the neurosurgical and related surgical teams to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary staff, you will oversee patient flow, staffing assignments, and adherence to clinical protocols for complex neurological and other surgical procedures.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator Surgery is responsible for providing direct patient care as an experienced RN while also functioning as a resource and mentor for nursing staff. You will facilitate preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative care, ensuring that assessments, care plans, and documentation meet hospital policies and evidence-based standards. You will assist with developing and reinforcing best practices in sterile technique, surgical safety checklists, infection prevention, and pain management, while promoting a culture of safety and accountability.

This position plays a key role in coordinating schedules, prioritizing surgical cases based on patient acuity and resource availability, and collaborating with the charge nurse and management team to optimize operating room utilization. You will help orient and precept new staff, support ongoing clinical education, and provide real-time coaching to team members to enhance competencies in neurological and robotic surgery, as well as other specialty procedures performed at St. David’s Medical Center.

The ideal candidate is an experienced perioperative RN with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated leadership ability in a fast-paced surgical environment.
