Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), ensuring patient recovery and safety after surgical procedures. Support patients through monitoring, assessment, and intervention during the immediate post-operative period.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient vitals and recovery status continuously following surgery.
• Administer medications and interventions per physician orders to manage pain and discomfort.
• Monitor for signs of complications and respond promptly to emergency situations.
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient progress.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care instructions and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active New York State RN license.
• Possess at least two years of Medical/Surgical experience.
• Demonstrate two years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience.
• Have at least two years of conscious sedation experience.
• Obtain and maintain AHA BLS certification.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree (ASN, ADN).
