The Porter / Baker’s Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen while supporting the baking team with daily prep and production tasks. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-energy environment and takes pride in behind-the-scenes excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Porter Duties

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, equipment, and storage spaces
• Wash dishes, baking tools, trays, and utensils efficiently and consistently
• Remove trash and recycling; maintain waste areas in compliance with health standards
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors and surfaces throughout shifts

Baker’s Assistant Duties

• Assist bakers with scaling, mixing, and prepping ingredients
• Prepare batters, fillings, and simple components following recipes and standards
• Portion doughs and assist in basic baking tasks as needed
• Label, date, and store ingredients and finished products properly

Inventory & Stock

• Receive and organize deliveries; verify quality and accuracy
• Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) method
• Restock ingredients, packaging, and supplies for daily production
• Alert management of low inventory or quality issues

General Support

• Set up and break down workstations for production shifts
• Support team during high-volume production periods
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
• Maintain a sense of urgency while ensuring accuracy and consistency

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen, bakery, or food prep experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
