Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Portsmouth, RI. Provide Operations Engineering support to the Manufacturing Work Centers, focusing on process improvement, cycle time reduction, defect prevention, and operator support. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and review Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, and tool/fixture designs. Support a manufacturing area as part of a cross‑functional team by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporating engineering changes into the MDP. Disposition non‑conforming material and support initiatives to identify root cause and implement corrective actions. Drive continuous improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk, automate, and reduce costs using CORE principles and data‑driven decision making. Engage in design development and/or transition to production at various product phases as the Manufacturing Engineering contributor. Provide real‑time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, both in‑house and the supply base. Use manufacturing systems and software, including Microsoft and SAP based applications, to maintain production‑relevant information and perform basic data analysis to identify trends within quality data. Participate in process improvement initiatives, establish process baseline metrics, conduct defect prevention, and perform process data analysis. Qualifications Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Preferred: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DFMA principles and methods; MRL and TRL assessments; safety/ergonomic assessments. Experience with technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), configuration management practices, and industry standards (e.g., J‑STD‑001). Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE) and/or simulation tools. Experience in transducer and sensor assembly, cable and harness fabrication, and specialized tooling development. Experience with automated tooling and machinery programming, including CMM, CNC, robotics, and related equipment. Active DoD security clearance – Secret or higher; U.S. citizenship required.
