Jurupa Unified School DistrictCROSSING GUARDDEFINITIONUnder general supervision provides for the safety of students crossing designated roadways by escorting students across such roadways in an efficient JOB FUNCTIONSObserves traffic flow watching for breaks in order to effectively halt that all vehicles appear to be reducing speed in preparation to traffic is halted safely escorts children across the roadway until all children have reached a place of safety from traffic and returns to crossing school children of proper safety methods and assures that they observe all safety necessary reports those students who fail to cooperate to school principal or other appropriate and submits essential evidence (characteristics of automobile driver etc.) to proper authorities when motorists violate school crossing or requests someone to notify proper authorities in emergency and reports actions of suspicious characters at or near the crossing be required to keep simple records and reports relative to activities incidents etc. at or near assigned crossing guard to work flexible to wear and carry appropriate clothing and in a wide variety of weather and/or stand up to the end of the shift periodFirst Aid certifiedOTHER JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms other related duties as QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:Safety working with school age childrenAbility to:Read understand and follow oral and written instructions;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff and accurate observations from a distance;Communicate effectively;Stoop kneel bend and walk (at times over uneven ground or at a highly accelerated pace);Stand and/or walk for sustained periods of time;Climb slopes stairs steps and ramps;May lift and carry light to medium-weight objects;Deal with hostile emotional ill or angry persons in an effective manner;Maintain regular steady : Some work involving contact with :Eighth Grade or higherSupervisorUnder direct supervision of the site administrator or his/her designeePersonal Qualities:Sound judgment; patience; willingness to perform job tasks; reliable; and Services June 23 2006
