Substitute Bus Monitor

Ride buses and help driver ensure safe and orderly transportation of students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver's License
• Either or both endorsements preferred, not required: Passenger (P) School Bus (S)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
• Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to manage student behavior
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment

Substitute Bus Monitors are not assigned a route or regularly scheduled duties. Will be contacted as needed. This classification does not accrue benefits.

Next steps:

1. Once processed you will receive a welcome email with more details.
2. You will receive an email to have your fingerprints taken by TEA. This email will come after the welcome email should you not have prints on file with TEA. This will come from Identogo, not Aledo ISD.
3. You will attend one of our orientations, an invite to the next one will be sent to you to RSVP.
4. When we have received clear fingerprint results, and you have attended orientation, verbal references will be obtained.
5. When digital and verbal references have been received we will send your application for approval to hire as a substitute.
6. If approved you will receive paperwork to complete online and then come in to the office to sign final documents and pick up your iID badge.
