Public Health OfficerClatsop County, OregonPart-Time (~10–15 hrs / month)Supervisory Role: May provide guidance to clinical staff on medical protocols and standing orders.This position meets the requirements of ORS 431.418 (2) for a local health department to have a physician licensed under ORS Chapter 677 act as a health officer responsible for the medical and paramedical aspects of public health programs.The Public Health Officer works under the general direction of the Local Public Health Administrator.Required QualificationsLicensed under ORS Chapter 677 and maintains a license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon for the duration of the contract.Desired Qualifications• Understanding of Epic EMR and public health related databases• Training or experience in public health related medical work• Credentials allowing for the ability to bill for Medicaid and private insurance• Experience with intercultural communication and ability to read, write, and speak SpanishKey Responsibilities / Duties:Oversight of Clinical Protocols Develop and sign standing orders, communicable disease protocols, and clinical guidanceEnsure compliance with Oregon statutes and administrative rulesMedical Consultation Serve as Laboratory Director and Pharmacy DirectorAdvise on immunizations, STI screening, infectious diseasesEmergency Preparedness Support pandemic response, disease outbreak containmentAuthorize quarantine/isolation orders, participate in bioterrorism readinessAdvise the Incident Commander during public health emergenciesClinical Consultations Support TB management (active/latent)Advise local agencies as neededRepresentation & Collaboration May present to Board of County CommissionersParticipate in: Conference of Local Health Officials (CLHO) – Health Officers' Caucus (monthly)Local Ambulance Services Advisory Committee (monthly)
