Description:
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver.
The RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
The RN provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources within the philosophy of the institution.
Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service.
The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
This documentation assures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
The RN completes an initial assessment upon patient admission.
The RN develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs.
The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety.
This includes reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
The RN confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base.
The RN identifies their own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
Department specific job functions include implementing procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing.
The RN performs patient assessments and develops care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients.
The RN executes the plan of care and nursing interventions.
The RN modifies the care plan based on continuous assessment.
The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions.
The RN adheres to safety standards and corrects/reporting safety hazards.
Effective communication and collaboration with staff, visitors, and families are essential.
This promotes a healthy and healing work environment.
The RN provides feedback to peers to aid in professional development.
The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records/documentation.
The schedule includes two call shifts per six-week schedule period.
Call shifts are 13 hours, with an expectation that the traveler is onsite within an hour.
There is a two-week night rotation required for all travelers.
No block scheduling is permitted.
