Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) | Wausau, WI | Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

Behavioral Health Services is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin. This opportunity offers the chance to work with youth behavioral health patients in a supportive, trauma-informed environment focused on compassionate, person-centered care.

Floating: May float to Adult Behavioral Health Unit when youth census is low

Compensation

Pay Rate: $63 - $66 per hour

Position Overview

The Psychiatric RN provides direct patient care for youth behavioral health patients in an inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have strong behavioral health experience, excellent de-escalation skills, and a patient-centered approach to care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Monitor patients experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Utilize trauma-informed care principles.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams.
• Support patient safety and therapeutic interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Document patient care accurately within Cerner.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Float to adult behavioral health services when needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN License
• Minimum 2 years of recent Behavioral Health/Psychiatric RN experience
• Current BLS Certification
• CPI Certification or willingness to obtain within 45 days of start date

Preferred Qualifications

• Cerner experience
• Previous inpatient psychiatric nursing experience
