Purchasing Coordinator

: SUMMARY: Responsible for the timely procurement of assigned material, equipment and/or services at the optimum total cost. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Researches, identifies and develops reliable sources of supplies for production materials, maintenance supplies and services. Analyze and select sources of supplies based upon purchase cost, considering such items as price, quality, delivery performance, stocking programs, terms, responsiveness, etc. Place and/or release purchase orders for commodities/services assigned with the most appropriate source after issues such as terms, conditions, delivery, and quality requirements have been resolved. Develop and maintain information and records identifying such items as sources of materials and services, current prices, discounts, freight terms, etc. Manage inventory levels of production materials and supplies. Order all materials and supplies in a timely manner to not affect the production schedule. Maintain purchasing system. Review and recommend high/low stock levels and order point. Responsible for receiving all incoming items and posting. Assist with all aspects of inventory. Interfaces with all levels of production and administrative staff. All other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A minimum of 5 years of related experience in an industrial purchasing environment; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Computer proficiency; Knowledge of computer based automated purchasing systems; A 4-year degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.
