Registered Nurse

Job Summary Registered Nurse – Procedure Suite (Full Time). Located in Newport News Procedure Suite, Newport News, VA 23606. The RN is responsible for providing quality patient care under the guidance of the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organization policies. Responsibilities Review the daily schedule. Open, clean, and close all rooms, keeping them stocked with supplies and prepped for patient appointments. Check patients into the EHR. Obtain vitals (height, weight, BP). Record the chief complaint of why the patient is in. Review medications for refills, allergies, and social history. Confirm labs are available before the appointment or request any needed tests such as EKG or BW. Assist the physician with surgeries or other exams. Administer medication and vaccinations as needed. May supervise Medical Assistants. Call patients with lab results. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical chart reporting and records. Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques. Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods. Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data. Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer. Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to work effectively as part of a team with physicians and other staff. Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, and staff. Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands. Education / Training / Requirements Associate’s degree or equivalent. Six to twelve months related experience/training. Nursing school diploma. Current licensure in VA as a Registered Nurse. CPR Certification. Physical Demands Ability to lift or move equipment. Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to enter data into a computer via a keyboard. Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to grasp and hold up to 30 lbs. Ability to occasionally squat and lean over. Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone. Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
