Research Coordinator II - Molecular and Human Genetics Job Title: Research Coordinator II - Molecular and Human Genetics Division: Molecular and Human Genetics Work Arrangement: Onsite only Location: Houston, TX Salary Range: $47,372 - $56,000 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Summary The Research Coordinator will assist with implementation of clinical research studies for children and adults with rare genetic disorders. The coordinator will work with a team of investigators and clinical research staff and be responsible for one or more research protocols. The day-to-day activities include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants as well as ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, organization, and safety of research participants. As many patients with genetic disorders have no available treatments, conducting research studies and providing them research opportunities is a very gratifying experience. The Research Coordinator will work within the Clinical Research Division of the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics. This division has multiple staff members and Investigators who have significant experience in conducting research studies in rare disorders. The primary role of the Research Coordinator is to assist in all day-to-day activities of clinical research protocols including, but not limited to screen and enroll participants, schedule research activity, ensure accurate data collection, perform data entry, maintain study documents, coordinate biospecimen acquisition, and ensure the organization and safety of study participants. Job Duties Provides information to, consenting of patients. Interviews, screens, and recruits patients for research studies. This involves explaining the study process and procedures to educate participants regarding the research study. Documents and maintains informed consent documents and all research/IRB study documents. Implementation of Study Schedules research visits and accompany patients for research procedures during the study visits. Helps with collection and processing of biospecimens. Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party as specified in the research protocol. Performs other job duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement. One year of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree plus three years of clinical research experience. Experience with informed consent. IRB and regulatory experience. Bilingual in Spanish. Physical Requirements This position may involve walking within the Texas Medical Center. Work Authorization Requirement: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
