Controls & Automation Engineer

Radiometer, a Danaher operating company, seeks an Automation Engineer to design and build custom automated machinery for medical device manufacturing. The role combines mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering to deliver compliant automation solutions, reporting to the Sr. Process Engineering Manager in New Brighton, Minnesota.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom automated equipment for medical device assembly, inspection, packaging, and testing
- Lead machine-building projects from concept through commissioning with mechanical and controls integration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and optimize machine performance for reliability and safety
- Specify and source components including actuators, sensors, vision systems, and control panels
- Document machine designs, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and software versions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or automation engineering
- 6+ years of machine design and automation experience in regulated manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- PLC programming expertise with Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems
- Demonstrated experience with robotics, vision systems, pneumatics, and motion control
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication abilities
Compensation: $115,000 - $135,000 base, plus eligible bonus/incentive pay
