Mechanical Engineering Intern

ASP is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join us for summer 2027! ASP's 10-week summer internship program provides students with meaningful, project-based work that delivers real business impact. Interns gain hands-on experience, build professional skills, and develop an understanding of ASP's products, culture, and the Fortive Business System (FBS), our proven approach to continuous improvement and growth. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful projects while building a strong foundation for a successful career.

As part of our mechanical engineering team, this intern will be responsible for supporting the design and development of mechanical systems and components for medical devices. They will work under the guidance of senior engineers to deliver designs, documentation, and testing aligned with their project goals.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of mechanical systems and components

• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD tools

• Assist in generating requirements and documentation

• Execute test protocols and analyze results

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues

• Apply FBS tools for continuous improvement

• Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards

• Performs failure analyses and investigation reports

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree in mechanical engineering or related field, graduating December 2027 or later

• Familiarity with CAD tools

• Ability to work in person in Irvine, CA

Pay Range

The hourly range for this position (in local currency) is $20-$40/hour..

Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location. The Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay and an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and several programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work.
