Civil Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire, exempt Salary Range: $135,000-$150,000 annually, depending on experience Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required United Staffing Associates has been engaged by a confidential client to assist with this direct-hire search. The selected candidate will be hired directly by the client. The salary range represents the compensation the client reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. Position Summary Our client is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer to provide technical, design, preconstruction, project-development, and leadership support for federally funded and federally contracted projects. This position will manage projects from early planning and feasibility through design, construction, and closeout. The Civil Engineer will oversee engineering work, budgets, schedules, permitting, regulatory compliance, construction quality, project documentation, and multidisciplinary teams. Projects may include roads, bridges, utilities, site development, public works, and other infrastructure improvements. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and approve civil engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents. Perform feasibility studies, technical analyses, constructability reviews, site inspections, and risk assessments. Support project planning, scope development, estimating, permitting, procurement, and contract coordination. Manage projects from development through construction and closeout. Oversee project budgets, schedules, resources, deliverables, and change management. Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, permitting requirements, environmental standards, and contract terms. Monitor construction activities for compliance with approved designs, quality expectations, and safety requirements. Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and internal stakeholders. Prepare project reports, presentations, contract documentation, and stakeholder updates. Provide technical guidance and resolve engineering or construction issues throughout each project phase. Lead multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior engineers and technical staff. Supervise assigned employees, potentially including a team of 10 or more. Required Qualifications Two to four years of relevant civil engineering experience. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering program; Civil Engineering is preferred, although related engineering disciplines may be considered. Active Professional Engineer license. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related engineering software. Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, materials, quality standards, and permitting processes. Experience managing budgets, schedules, resources, and multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to interpret and apply technical standards, building codes, contract requirements, and regulations. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound engineering decisions under pressure. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the client’s vehicle-insurance requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with federally funded, public works, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, environmental, or related engineering projects. Knowledge of project controls, contract documentation, procurement coordination, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, safety requirements, and stakeholder reporting. Experience with MicroStation or similar engineering platforms. Familiarity with LiDAR, drone surveying, mapping, or construction-monitoring applications. Experience supervising or mentoring engineering and technical personnel. Work Environment and Travel This position is primarily office-based and requires regular use of computers and engineering software. Frequent visits to construction zones, infrastructure sites, and outdoor project locations are also required. The successful candidate must be comfortable working around changing weather conditions, uneven terrain, active construction, and required personal protective equipment. Occasional travel to remote or multiple project locations may be necessary. The position may involve extended sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, operating a vehicle, and occasionally lifting more than 20 pounds. The successful candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
