JOB TITLE: Clinical Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Salary, Full-Time
PAY RATE: $66,500 - $75,000 (based on experience)
BENEFITS: 401k 3% match after six months of employment, Paid Holidays, Premium Pay, Insurance

SUMMARY:
The Clinical Director is responsible for supervising and leading a team of clinical professionals 
and advocates who work together to provide trauma-sensitive assessment, referrals, psychotherapy 
treatment, and other resources and services to children, adults, and/or families impacted by 
domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Clinical staff are expected to participate in continuing 
education (as required by DOPL) and maintain expertise on current research and developments in the 
fields of behavioral health, trauma, abuse, and other pertinent topics. CEUs must include a minimum 
of 16 hours of domestic violence and sexual trauma-related treatment-specific training every year. 
Additionally, clinical staff are expected to have a thorough understanding of HIPAA, the Mental 
Health Professional Practice Act, and other laws and rules pertinent to professional licensing and 
mental health counseling.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
● Supervise daily operations of the clinical team, including hiring clinical professionals and 
advocates, evaluating job performance, and responding to concerns relating to policies/procedures,  
case staffing, clinical skills, productivity, caseload expectations, etc.
● Supervise the Prevention Program Manager and offer feedback on materials for empowerment groups.
● Supervise the Spanish Advocacy Program Manager and offer feedback for Spanish language groups and 
curricula.
● Monitor clinical documentation and provide guidance and follow-up for clinical staff to ensure 
documentation is correct for appropriate billing
● Provide ongoing individual clinical supervision to clinical interns and associate-licensed 
counselors, as required by Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL)
● Gather/track/monitor clinical documentation to ensure compliance with contract requirements for 
therapy services provided (mental health assessments, treatment plans with clear goals, and concise 
progress notes that include reference to specific goals with all required details for Medicaid 
compliance)
● Provide trauma-informed training, suicide prevention, and other helpful trainings for staff
● Coordinate and co-facilitate clinical staff meetings, and take meeting minutes
● Coordinate with clinical team and billing/admin team to allocate funding to necessary clinical 
materials (e.g., workbooks, child play therapy supplies, family therapy kits, etc.)

● Organize, update, and manage shared clinical team documents/folders (e.g., forms, protocols, 
policies, etc.)
● Prepare quarterly and annual counseling outcomes/progress reports with the assistance of the 
Counseling Program Coordinator as requested
● Collaborate with funding contract partners and community agencies that provide services and 
support client recovery
● Supervise and provide guidance to the clinical team to ensure all department needs are met, 
including regular feedback sessions
● Assign and advise counselors on program tasks as needed
● Oversee clinical program and team development
● Collaborate with and provide support to contracted clinical partners
● Provide crisis support and resources for staff as needed, including participating in and 
overseeing the Mental Health On Call protocol.
●  Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support evolving program needs, staffing 
changes, team coverage, and continuity of services. In these circumstances, a supervisor will 
approve these duties to ensure they do not change the core purpose of this position.

CLINICAL COUNSELING RESPONSIBILITIES
● Provide/oversee evidence-based, trauma-sensitive crisis counseling and group programming for 
shelter and outreach clients (may include supervising a clinical intern assigned to provide crisis 
counseling for shelter clients)
● Provide support, mentoring, and consultation for shelter advocates
● Provide after-hours clinical consultation to shelter and administrative on-call staff when 
responding to higher-risk crises as needed
●  Work closely with clinical coordinator who completes mental health needs assessments, provides 
counseling intakes for survivors on the waitlist and triage/assess high risk clients in crisis for 
highest priority, initiate contract paperwork; provide outside referrals to survivors who qualify 
for other resources in need of services beyond our scope of care; and provide follow-up crisis 
support for survivors on the waitlist until clients are assigned to an ongoing outreach counselor 
or contracted therapist
● Conduct biopsychosocial mental health assessments as needed, but primarily focused on addressing 
clients on the waitlist and short-term crisis counseling needs
● Maintain and ensure clear/concise client files, including session/service and progress notes, 
treatment plans, client correspondence, telephone consultations, and termination summaries
● Participate in ongoing clinical meetings, determine case staffing needs, and clinical 
supervision/consultation
● Participate in applicable, appropriate, related professional development opportunities

REQUIREMENTS
● Education:
○ Master’s degree (or higher) in social work, psychology, or related field required.
● License:
○ Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or other equivalent unrestricted professional 
license (LCMHC, LPC, LMFT, etc.) to practice independently as a mental health therapist
● Training/Certifications:
○ Training and/or continuing education applicable to areas of interpersonal trauma, domestic and 
sexual violence and abuse preferred, including certification in an evidenced-based trauma specific 
treatment modality preferred (ex. TF-CBT, EMDR, Play Therapy, SE, DBT, Seeking Safety, LifeSpan 
Integration, etc.)
○ Supervision Certification preferred
● Experience:
○ Prior relevant experience as a practicing mental health professional working with children, 
adults, and/or families who have experienced abuse trauma
○ Prior program management strongly preferred
○ Supervision experience preferred
● Knowledge Requirements:
○ Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Word, Excel, Google Suite, and Google 
Chrome
○ Familiarity and experience with documenting in an electronic database and keeping documentation 
current
● Intellectual and Physical Requirements:
○ Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
○ Bending, twisting, reaching, and other movement may be necessary in working with 
children/adolescents
○ Lifting of office materials (up to 20 lbs.) may also be requested
● Other Information:
○ Must have reliable transportation

○ Travel may occasionally be required for educational or business purposes. It is not anticipated 
that any travel would last more than 2 – 3 days
○ Must adhere to the federal VAWA & HIPAA laws pertaining to confidential protected health 
information
○  Must adhere to guidelines set forth by DOVE Center, the Department of Human Services (DHS), 
Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), and other governing bodies, concerning program policies, 
licensure requirements, and code of ethics
○ Employment dependent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and initial 
onboarding training
○ CPR/First Aid training certification required within the first 30 days of employment
