Senior Software EngineerWe're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to take the reins on the software behind our genome-mapping platform — the technology researchers rely on to uncover the structural variants driving cancer and rare disease — and shape what it becomes next. You'll take responsibility for our existing LabVIEW-based instrument application — feature work, debugging, performance improvements — while also playing a lead role in architecting its next-generation, Python-based replacement. This is hands-on work: you'll be testing and debugging directly against physical lab hardware, not just in simulation, and pairing with AI coding tools to move faster than a small team normally could.We've grown from a small team into a ~90-person organization, backed by a well-capitalized global parent, and we're still small enough that engineers here own real, visible pieces of the product rather than a slice of a much bigger machine. We're a life sciences instrumentation company building the hardware and software behind a next-generation genome analysis platform — precision electronics, nanofluidics, and computational biology combined into a single instrument that gives researchers a level of insight into genome structure that older methods can't match.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn, maintain, and enhance our production LabVIEW instrument application — feature additions, debugging, performance and reliability improvements, and incremental refactoringLead and contribute to building the next generation of that application on a modern, Python-based stackWrite software design and requirements documentation, and help build out a more structured verification and testing strategyWrite Python tools for data analysis and integration within the instrument softwareCollaborate directly with the internal scientists and researchers who use the platform to shape improvements and resolve issuesUse AI-assisted coding tools as a core part of your day-to-day workflowQualifications5+ years of professional software development experience, ideally with a BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related science fieldHands-on, production experience with LabVIEW — able to debug, extend, and refactor an existing production application, not just personal or one-off test scriptsStrong Python skills and comfort with object-oriented design and large, distributed architecturesUnderstanding of the full software development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, and verification/validationComfort working directly with physical lab instrumentation as a regular part of the jobA pragmatic, collaborative communication style — this is a small, hands-on team, not a rigid corporate structureNice to have: experience with AI coding assistants, SQL/SQLite, CI/CD tooling, quality-management-system environments (medical device, pharma, or defense), or communication protocols like Serial, TCP/IP, or CANWhat We OfferUp to $200,000 base salaryBonus potential and an equity stakeFull benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k) with 50% match up to 6% of base salary, unlimited vacation, life and disability insurance, paid parental leaveThe chance to modernize a real, revenue-generating instrument platform and see your work matter immediately, backed by a well-funded parent organization
