Full Job Description

The CNC Setup Technician is responsible for setting up CNC mills and/or lathes, performing first-article inspections, and ensuring machines are properly tooled and ready for production. This role supports daily machining operations by ensuring accurate, efficient, and safe setups.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: based on experience

Schedule: 1st Shift — 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Department: Machining

Reports To: CNC Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machines according to job travelers, prints, and tooling requirements
• Load programs, verify offsets, and perform dry runs
• Conduct first-piece inspections using precision measuring tools
• Adjust feeds/speeds and tooling as needed
• Troubleshoot minor machine or tooling issues
• Maintain accurate setup documentation
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safe
• Collaborate with operators to ensure smooth production flow

Requirements

• 2+ years CNC setup experience preferred
• Strong blueprint reading skills
• Proficient with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
• Knowledge of G-code fundamentals a plus
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods
• Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail
