Job Title: Shop Helper
Type of Role: Contract
Shift / Hours: Monday–Friday, with a 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM start
Location: Stockton, CA
Hourly Pay Range: $18.00–$22.00 per hour

Job Summary

Balance Staffing is seeking a Shop Helper to assist machine operators with the setup and operation of metal cutting, punching, forming, bending, and rolling equipment. This position works in a job shop environment and supports the Fabrication, Processing, and Rolling Departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup and operation of equipment, including metal shears, press brakes, plate rollers, ironworkers, punches, and section rolls.

• Complete assigned tasks according to established time standards and quality expectations.

• Follow instructions from leads and supervisors.

• Accurately record time worked and tasks completed.

• Safely operate forklifts and overhead hoists or cranes when trained and authorized.

• Assist with preventive equipment maintenance as requested.

• Maintain clean, organized work areas free of debris and potential hazards.

• Follow workplace safety rules and company policies.

Qualifications

• At least one year of shop experience with basic knowledge of metal fabrication.

• Basic shop math, measuring, and hand and power tool skills.

• Ability to follow work instructions and safety procedures and learn to read blueprints and operate equipment.

• Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead hoists or cranes when trained and authorized.

• Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to quality and safety.

• Reliable attendance and availability for occasional overtime or weekends, subject to applicable leave and accommodation requirements.

• Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
