Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Pelham, AL

Deliver advanced patient care in a dynamic trauma and burn mixed acuity unit supporting both stepdown and med/surg patients. In this vital RN role, you'll work with a multidisciplinary team treating stable trauma cases, post-op surgical patients (including orthopedic, GI, and trauma surgeries), and stable burns. Patient ratios are thoughtfully maintained-1:4-6 in acute spaces and 1:3-4 in stepdown-to ensure high-quality outcomes and manageable workloads.


Key Qualifications:

• Current, active RN license
• Prior experience in Med Surg and stepdown or trauma environments
• Strong assessment and clinical skills to support mixed acuity patients
• ACLS and BLS certifications required and must be current
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced unit managing diverse patient populations
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to stepdown and med/surg patients with trauma or burns
• Monitor patient status, recognizing early signs of complications or needed interventions
• Administer medications and treatments per care protocols
• Collaborate with the broader care team, including physicians, surgeons, and therapists
• Document and update patient records accurately and promptly
• Provide support and education to patients and families regarding recovery expectations
