The role splits time between the OR (three days) and clinic (two days), with on-call responsibilities included. Strong physician mentorship makes this an excellent fit for new graduates as well as experienced PAs ready for higher surgical volume. Heads up — this is a physically demanding role. The patient population skews larger, and the work involves repeatedly lifting, transferring, and stabilizing 50–100+ pounds throughout the workday in the OR. Candidates built for high-volume orthopedic surgery will thrive here. Key Responsibilities First assist in joint, hip, and knee procedures, including deep and superficial tissue closures Perform pre-op H&Ps, post-op evaluations, hospital rounds, and discharge dictation Run clinic visits: physical exams, diagnostic interpretation (X-ray, MRI, CT, DEXA), injections, joint aspirations, casting/splinting, suturing Take first call: admissions, emergency surgery scheduling, orders, and physician briefings Order and interpret labs and imaging; write prescriptions including controlled substances Educate patients on treatment plans and orthopedic devices Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation and surgical logs Requirements Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (new grads welcome) Active Texas PA license (or eligibility for Texas licensure) Completed orthopedic rotation during PA training Physical stamina to lift and maneuver 50–100+ pounds repeatedly throughout the workday Strong communication and organizational skills OR experience preferred, not required Benefits PPO, HDHP, and Surest healthcare plans (with $100/month tobacco-free discount) Dental, vision, life, AD&D, short- and long-term disability 401(k) with annual employer contributions HSA/FSA, legal assistance, EAP Generous PTO Apply today — open to new grads and experienced PAs alike. #PhysicianAssistant #OrthopedicSurgery #TexasJobs #PAJobs #Hiring #Healthcare
