As a Convenience Store Associate, you’ll be the friendly face customers remember, providing great service, keeping the store looking its best, and helping ensure every visit is quick, easy, and welcoming. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced position where no two days are the same. Job Purpose Provides friendly, efficient service to convenience store customers and maintains facility in good working order. Job Duties and Responsibilities (Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time) Provides customer service by acknowledging and welcoming customers as they enter the store in a friendly and courteous manner, providing customers with information and assistance as needed, entering customer purchases in point-of-sale system, collecting, counting and processing payments following established procedures, bagging or boxing purchases for customers, issuing refunds according to established procedures, and thanking customers for their business upon departure. – 50% Maintains a clean and safe facility by cleaning, stocking and organizing store shelves, counters, walk‑in coolers and cashier stations, displaying products in a visually appealing manner, keeping aisles free of debris and obstacles, mopping floors, disposing of trash and cleaning trashcans, cleaning and monitoring sidewalks, parking areas, fuel dispensers, and canopy areas, and observing health, regulatory and safety policies and procedures. – 30% Provides accounting of transactions by opening cashier station according to established procedure, ensuring opening drawer cash count is correct and adequate change is available, processing all transactions accurately, closing cashier station according to established procedure, calculating total cash payments received, balancing and reconciling closing drawer with cash sales, preparing cash and credit receipts for deposit, and reporting unresolved discrepancies to the Store Manager. – 20% Job Specifications Education and Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience Current Food Handlers card Convenience store experience 1 year retail experience Skills and Knowledge Ability to interact effectively with customers and co‑workers Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours at a time Ability to count U.S currency and make change Ability to appear for work on time Ability to communicate effectively in English Ability to maintain professionalism and composure Ability to follow verbal directives and written instructions Ability to accept constructive criticism Ability to routinely lift up to thirty pounds Ability to bend, stoop, push and pull Ability to complete forms and documents Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations Ability to recognize counterfeit monies Ability to work variable work schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays Direct: None Indirect: None If you enjoy being part of a community dedicated to creating a memorable guest experience, we invite you to explore career opportunities with Sycuan and join our winning team!
