Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of a specific model of care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patient and family and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs, and as appropriate to the care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor or preceptor. Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. Complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model. Schedule Notes: Call required; one weekday shift from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Weekends require call of no more than every 6th weekend, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Required skills include acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, care plan implementation, and care plan evaluation. Additional skills include patient education, teamwork, mentoring, precepting, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. Required education includes a Nursing Diploma or an Associate's Degree (ASN). Preferred education details are not applicable.
