This opportunity is for a pharmacist in charge (PIC) to oversee daily operations at a closed-door mail order pharmacy specializing in long-term care. The position is part-time, with a schedule of Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 AM to 3 PM, totaling 16-24 hours per week, with potential to add a third day. The role is ongoing for 13+ weeks and offers a chance to join a well-established team of six technicians and other pharmacists.

Location: Rockville, MD (worksite at a mail order pharmacy in Gaithersburg, MD)

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily pharmacy functions as the PIC, ensuring all operations comply with state and federal regulations.
• Lead and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, maintaining workflow accuracy and efficiency.
• Review and approve prescriptions and medication orders for safe and appropriate long-term care patient therapy.
• Maintain quality assurance programs, controlled substance compliance, policy enforcement, and documentation standards.
• Collaborate closely with facility staff, providers, and nursing teams to facilitate optimal patient care and timely medication delivery.
• Support sterile compounding and clean room operations if experienced and comfortable in an IV/compounding setting.

Qualifications:

• Active pharmacist license in Maryland plus multi-state licensure, including AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX (candidates missing a few states but holding most are encouraged to apply).
• Minimum of 2 years recent pharmacy management experience.
• At least 2 years of long-term care or mail order pharmacy experience.
• Sterile compounding experience is a plus but not required.
• Availability to start immediately.
