Electrical CAD Designer/Drafter - Substation Location: Newark, DE, United States Salary Range: USD $28.00 - USD $40.00 (Weekly) Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) is looking for an Electrical CAD Designer/Drafter About Us AES brings over 100 years of expertise to deliver top-notch engineering, design, planning, and testing services for transmission, distribution, substation, and renewable infrastructure markets across the U.S. Job Summary Seeking a full-time Designer/Drafter for our New England offices with flexibility for remote or hybrid work; fully remote options for well-qualified candidates, but preference for those within commutable distance. Responsibilities Perform Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Assist with CAD quality control Create, edit, and design electrical, structural, and/or control drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, including one-line, three-line, logic, schematic, wiring, panel front, control house layout, and physical/civil yard layout drawings Learn and apply internal and client drafting standards, practices, and procedures Coordinate with Engineers on plans & specifications development and incorporate concepts into CAD drawing packages for utility power delivery projects Assist Project Managers and Engineers to deliver projects on time and within budget Attend job meetings and coordinate activities as required Attend training to further enhance duties Complete and submit weekly paperwork Required Education and Experience Must be 18 years of age or older Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship Associate’s or technical degree in an accredited drafting program, Computer-Aided Architectural Drafting and Design program, or technical school in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience (Or) 3+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment Working knowledge of CAD standards and best practices Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills Desired Education and Experience 5+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in utility infrastructure or substation design Experience with CAD image integration such as Autodesk Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes Construction or Utility experience interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and substation physical/civil drawings Experience with scaled drawings Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Experience with BlueBeam Revu or alternative PDF editor software Experience with ProjectWise File Management System Reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks Basic engineering principles knowledge and practical design solutions familiarity Ability to produce accurate work with attention to detail Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn and adapt quickly License and Certifications Driver License preferred, but not required Pre-Employment Screening Upon offer, employees may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or motor vehicle record check Benefits Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available to all eligible employees on the first day of employment.
