Position Summary The Quality Assurance Specialist (QA) assists the Director of Quality Assurance with the development and implementation of QA plans, procedures, and programs in compliance with Los Alamos National Laboratory and Department of Energy requirements. The specialist facilitates and assists in the Quality Assurance Program and Process Improvement Programs, develops surveillance and assessment schedules, conducts periodic quality surveillances, audits, and assessments of policies, procedures, and processes of Northern New Mexico Integrated Security, LLC (N2MIS) functions, and administers the Issues Management Program. The specialist conducts quality analyses—including risk, causal, deficiency, and trend analyses—to support Department of Energy Contractor Assurance System requirements and provides employee training and education in quality principles as required. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and supervise QA programs to ensure compliance with DOE, NNSA, LANL, and N2MIS directives. Review DOE directives, conduct QA assessments of policies, procedures, and processes of operations, recommend policy and procedural improvements, and develop corrective action plans to bring N2MIS into compliance where applicable. Administer the Issues Management Program. Identify and recommend corrective actions and improvement opportunities. Advise management on the status of issues and courses of action. Conduct follow-up verification and validation of closed findings. Oversee trend analyses of processes as needed or requested. Develop and maintain applicable policies and standard practices for the QA section. Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business hours are Monday‑Friday standard core hours; some extended or weekend hours may be required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Work is performed onsite; position is not remote. High school diploma or equivalent. Current or ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance. Obtaining this clearance requires U.S. citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Valid New Mexico driver’s license. Quality assurance analysis experience, including audits, statistical process control, report preparation, systems deficiency and statistical analysis, risk management, causal analysis, developing corrective actions, and trend tracking. Experience preparing and delivering formal briefing presentations and managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite programs. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining strict attention to detail and accuracy. Physical demands may include lifting and carrying items up to ten (10) pounds, extended periods of sitting while using a computer, intermittent standing, walking, squatting, stretching, and bending. Must have close visual and auditory acuity for preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and making general observations of facilities or structures. Exposure to hazards such as moving vehicles may occur. Desired Education and Experience (Considered a Plus) Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of academic training and experience. American Society for Quality (ASQ) Quality Auditor Certification (CQA). Knowledge of Department of Energy and NNSA operational security and training. Knowledge of complex organizational functions and processes.
