Senior DevOps Engineer

Platform Engineering Role

Platform Engineering owns the end-to-end experience of how engineers, investment teams and researchers at Balyasny build, test, ship and run software at scale – from source control and authentication systems that underpin our live trading environments, to the platforms that keep tens of thousands of builds, applications and tasks running reliably across compute providers, and developer acceleration tooling that deeply integrates across engineering workflows. The primary focus of this role is to design, build and maintain platforms for engineers within the business – from scalable source controls systems through to CICD infrastructure that execute millions of builds per year. You will work with portfolio management, technology, data and business teams to deliver scalable, resilient and automated solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and automate deployment pipelines and operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer autonomy.
• Champion SRE and DevOps best practices—including observability, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code—across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines; write code for infrastructure optimization; manage operations, including on-call duties, Kubernetes, and training.
• Collaborate with development teams to enhance service stability, scalability, and fault tolerance through mentoring, documentation, and hands-on support.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, sharing responsibility for production reliability.

To be considered a good fit, you must have:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles within complex, distributed systems environments.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python or GoLang.
• Deep expertise with CI/CD platforms and automation of SDLC processes (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy).
• Experience with critical artifacts infrastructure that serve millions of requests per day.
• Experience architecting and implementing testable, scalable, and reliable software and infrastructure solutions.
• Deep expertise with containers and Kubernetes, including application management and orchestration.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with configuration/infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes Operators).
• Experience working with and maintaining observability solutions.
• Experience working with both cloud (AWS preferred) and on-premises hosting platforms.
