Essential Tasks (Responsibilities):
* Assist in the day-to-day activities in the Purchasing Department, expediting product, maintain the Supplier Loop calculation, and assist in clerical duties as required
Additional Responsibilities (other requirements):
* Ensures conformance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and practices
* Check inventories and place orders for components by using kanban signals in order to maintain inventory levels so the plant may function effectively and efficiently while utilizing “just-in-time” deliveries. Order expense items – quantities determined by visual or kanban signals or requisitions received in the department
* Maintains the Supplier Loop Calculations for accurate kanban loop sizes
* Place, expedite and key orders into the computer and maintain orders so reports may be kept up-to-date and other departments will have needed information. Maintain subcontractor delivery performance records and record premium freight
* Prepare and distribute quotations. Productions quotations are returned to quotations technician so they in turn may quote our customers on a timely basis
* Follow up on complaints from associates or Q.A. regarding defective materials received from subcontractors. Contact subcontractor, send samples of defective material, obtain disposition of material and prepare necessary paperwork for return of material
* Make recommendations where there could be a cost savings or better product that we could utilize in our production
* Lead the EDI implementation and continued monitoring of SRM Phase I and Phase II, verifying that suppliers comply to the requirements as stated in the Supplier Manual
* Assist in any clerical duties as needed within our department
* Work with Accounts Payable on any price or quantity discrepancies
* Ensure the department runs according to QS9000, TS16949 and MS 9000 standards and procedures
