Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

We are seeking a dedicated and certified Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join our dynamic team. This position entails preparing and delivering clean and sterilized instruments and equipment necessary for various medical procedures, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in handling medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver clean and sterilized instruments and equipment for medical examinations and surgeries.
• Sterilize, wrap, organize, and prepare medical equipment and surgical instruments into instrument trays for clinical procedures.
• Lay out surgical gloves and gowns prior to medical procedures.
• Collect and manually clean used and contaminated medical equipment, supplies, and instruments for sorting and decontamination.
• Prepare and pack decontaminated medical tools and supplies for sterilization.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.
• Examine supplies meticulously to ensure cleanliness.
• Report any issues with sterilization equipment to supervisors and request replacements as needed.
• Maintain records of sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, sterilized items, and supplies.
• Reorder medical and surgical supplies, control inventory, and check expiration dates of products.
• Properly dispose of medical waste in compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is required.
• AHA BLS Certification is required.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.
• Preferred certifications include:
• CER (HSPA)
• CIS (HSPA)
• CSIS (CBSPD)
• Pediatric experience is preferred.
• Experience with decontamination methods, both manual and mechanical, is required.
• Familiarity with general instrumentation, laparoscopic instruments, and flexible endoscopes is beneficial.
• Experience in steam and low-temperature sterilization, including facility-specific equipment, is necessary.
• Dental tray assembly experience is preferred.

Work Schedule

This position is full-time, with expected work hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Please note that there may be a need for flexibility based on unit requirements.

Call Requirements

Requirement to be on call for 6 days a month, including 1 weekend per month.

Equipment Used

The technician will work with various types of equipment, including, but not limited to, Arthrex, Steris, and Olympus.

Attire

The standard attire for this position includes royal blue scrubs.
