Rehab Therapist Lead: Physical Therapy

Job Description The Rehab Therapist Lead assesses individual patients’ physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy needs, establishes and implements individualized treatment programs, reviews medical histories, applies screening tests, and collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to determine functional limitations and clinical needs. The Lead determines a plan of care that includes appropriate interventions, expected intensity and duration of therapy, and recommendations for discharge. Responsibilities also include providing education to patients, families, and caregivers about activities, equipment use, and home exercise programs; performing regular re‑examinations and measuring outcomes; case managing multiple patients across various clinical settings; completing required documentation accurately and in a timely manner; engaging in continuing education and applying new information to practice. Additionally, the Lead assists with educating new staff, serves as a clinical instructor for students and interns, leads educational events, attends board‑required coursework, provides in‑services to staff, consults with staff, offers input on equipment and supplies, participates in marketing planning, helps develop program policies and dashboard measures, serves as a resource to departments in the absence of the supervisor, and organizes and coordinates department work and staff assignments based on patient needs and staff clinical abilities. Qualifications Education and Experience 5+ years of experience as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Therapist in an acute healthcare system environment. Previous experience with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems preferred. Bilingual or multilingual preferred. Specific Department Qualifications Acute Rehabilitation Unit: Demonstrates competency in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP). Rehabilitation Services: Requires twelve hours annually of continuing education in clinical specialization, experience with diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary, and fulfillment of mandatory stroke education requirements. Licenses Required Current licensure as a Physical Therapist with the Physical Therapy Board of California. Occupational Therapist with the California Board of Occupational Therapy. Speech‑Language Pathologist with the Speech‑Language Pathology Board of California. Licenses Preferred N/A Certifications Required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
