Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum period. Supervises and coordinates care with obstetric and neonatal teams, ensuring optimal outcomes for mother and baby.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' health status and monitor fetal and maternal condition throughout labor and delivery.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members.
• Provide direct patient care including administering medications, assisting with procedures, and offering emotional support.
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
• Coordinate care activities, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure safety standards are maintained.
• Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately in medical records.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• At least two years recent experience in labor and delivery or obstetric nursing.
• Current BLS certification mandated; additional certifications such as NRP or ARC-NALS required.
• Demonstrate proficiency in fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency procedures.
