Summary Description The primary responsibilities include screening, evaluating, and providing appropriate services to students with communication disorders (articulation, voice, language, fluency) that affect educational performance. Additional duties include consultation with teachers and parents and participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings. Physical demands as required. Special requirements: attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional time as mandated by the MCEA agreement. Job Information Position Title: Speech Pathologist Grade: BD Organization: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School Primary Location: Germantown Schedule: Part‑time Working Months: 10 Shift: Day Job Wage and Benefits Wage is 40% of a salary range between $64,591 and $131,472 based on education and experience. Benefits are as per district policy. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders in students birth to twenty‑one years of age. Develop and implement individualized goals and objectives and select appropriate therapeutic materials for individual students and small groups. Consult with classroom teachers, parents, and local school or site‑based team members; effective communication and human relations skills required. Write concise clinical reports; develop IEPs, Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs); maintain complete longitudinal records for each student. Demonstrate leadership in developing, implementing, and monitoring consultative programs. Education, Training, and Experience Masters or equivalent in speech‑language pathology with coursework and experience in evaluation and therapeutic techniques for communication disorders. Experience working cooperatively with related professionals and parents. Excellent oral and written communication skills and human relations skills. Combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills to perform effectively in the position is acceptable. Licensing Requirements Speech pathologists hired after October 1, 2007, must hold Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) license or be eligible for a provisional license. Speech pathologists hired before that date may hold Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification or Maryland State DHMH license.
