Position Summary The Shipping / Logistics Manager is responsible for the efficient and timely completion of all operations within the shipping and receiving department. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Schedules and expedites freight by truck to and from subcontractors and job sites. Oversees maintenance and inventory on company owned trailers. Negotiates rates with outside carriers. Occasionally books inbound loads. Supervises daily operations of shipping clerk and truck drivers. Adheres to all company safety and OSHA regulations. The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 5 years’ experience in shipping/receiving. Must have excellent mathematical, communication, organizational and supervisory skills and the ability to prepare a budget. Must have general knowledge of structural shapes. Must be able to pass certification for operation of forklifts and overhead cranes. Must have familiarity with AISC requirements regarding marking/placement of materials and a working knowledge of Federal/State D.O.T. rules and regulations. Physical Demands Requires considerable amounts of standing on your feet. Must be able to lift 30 - 40 pounds often. Requires the ability to climb, stoop and bend occasionally. Overtime and weekend work required as needed. Exposure to temperature fluctuations and noise in the work environment. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
