Job Summary Performs set up of cardiac telemetry including patient preparation. Monitors patients on telemetry by computer or trans telephonically. Evaluates cardiac rhythms and notifies appropriate persons about serious or life‑threatening arrhythmias. Creates and types over‑read reports. Processes and maintains appropriate patient and departmental records. Performs ECGs as needed. Hooks up Holter and cardiac event monitors as needed. Maintains and promotes Saint Louis University Hospital service standards. Key Responsibilities Perform telemetry monitoring and patient preparation, electrode placement, and instruction. Interpret arrhythmias with Prepare and type over‑read reports with Provide back‑up coverage for ECG and Holter departments when they are closed. Hook up Holter monitors and cardiac event monitors, process reports, and perform other heart station duties. Maintain the heart station orderly, handle record keeping, enter charges, check supplies and battery voltages, and clean equipment between patients. Practice safety and infection control, practice universal precautions, dispose hazardous waste, keep environment safe and clean, keep conversations and background noise to a minimum, adhere to dress code, report risks to department director. Provide service excellence: demonstrate care, courtesy, prompt respect, apologize, communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, listen, explain procedures, keep time for questions, demonstrate competence, provide quality care, share knowledge, use resources wisely, recommend efficiency improvements. Assist in developing departmental performance‑improvement plan, collect PI data, participate in discussion, collaborate on action plans. Provide age‑appropriate care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Provide specialized care: restraint care, pain management, abuse assessment, ensuring safe monitoring and skin care. Additional Responsibilities Complete and type all over‑read reports. Perform ECGs. Enter billing information via Meditech system. Job Specifications Minimum Education: High School or equivalent Minimum Experience: 0–6 months training/experience in arrhythmia monitoring or equivalent Post‑High School vocational/specialized training Required Course: None Working Conditions: Exposure to infections and contagious diseases; electrical and radiant energy hazards; contact with patients under varied circumstances; emergency or crisis situations; irregular hours; occasional prolonged standing/walking; occasional lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transfers; manual dexterity and mobility; occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, pulling 100+ pounds; lifts supplies/equipment.
